Welcome to Phi Mu!! My name is Sydney Timberlake, and I am SO honored and excited to serve as this year’s Vice President of Recruitment. The day I was accepted to Carolina was one of the most memorable and cherished days of my life. At the time, it just meant that I had been accepted into my dream school, but reflecting on my time here, it has meant SO much more than that. The days and weeks leading up to moving into my freshman year dorm terrified me. I was excited, but at the same time scared of what this change would look like for me. 

I made the decision to go through primary recruitment and knew I was looking to find a group of lifelong friends that would support my successes and failures, bring joy and laughter to my life, and push me to be the best version of my self. As soon as I walked through the doors of Phi Mu, I knew exactly where I wanted to be running home to on Bid Day. The girls of Phi Mu are genuine, uplifting, caring, and provide the most beautiful sense of community at a University that can feel so big. Phi Mu has been the source of so many sacred memories, experiences, leadership opportunities, and lifelong friends! 

My advice to PNMs would be to find a house where you can authentically show up as yourself, one that will surround you with women that push you to lead a life full of love, grace, integrity, and sisterhood. As you go through recruitment, cling onto your values and make the most of the entire process!
